The sun has been a a rarity so far in 2019.
Overcast, freezing winds, rainy and hell and just plain dull has been our weather so far. Which is why is was rather surprising this morning to see bright sun and a bit of blue in the sky.
Since I was heading up to Candie Gardens to visit the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the museum, I grabbed my camera and took a couple of shots of a local landmark on the way.

Victor Hugo is one of the islands more famous residents and, as I learnt last year, photographers. Today his statue still retains pride of place overlooking the harbour.
I’ve always had fondness for this view and this place. My early childhood home was not far from here and so there are plenty of memories. Picnics on the grass, ice creams from the cafe at the bandstand. Walking up what at the time felt like the steepest hill in the world when we walked home from Town.
A lot has changed since then, but Victor and his view still remain the same.
