Last night we arrived in the beautiful town of Melaka. It is a really lovely place, with a continental feel. It reminds me of Macau, and I was therefore unsurprised to find out that it was at one stage a former Portuguese colony.
I should be out and about exploring, but the fact is that I’m currently waiting for painkillers to kick in as the side of my face feel like it is on fire. I was up most of the night in pain from this damn ear infection, which seems to hurt more when I lie down. So its not exactly helpful for sleeping. I leave for Singapore tomorrow, and then Jakarta early the next morning. So it is a really inconvenient time to have this. So today, I’m feeling just a tad down because I feel like I should be out and enjoying myself, and instead I’m grimicing every time I move my jaw because it hurts my ear, I’m tired from a short spell of bad sleep and a little dizzy as well. It is just so damn annoying and there is nothing I can do about it but take painkillers and wait for it to calm down and hope that this is it at its worst.
A few hours later….
At the risk of sounding melodramatic; I went out and eventually decided to come back before I needed to be brought back.
Ironically I really wasn’t missing too much by not going out this morning. It turns out that Melaka is predominantly Islamic, and therefore nearly everything is closed today for the Hajj.
So I’ve had a walk around, got very, very hot and when I felt myself starting to get a little dizzy again, came back to the hotel for a cold shower and another dose of painkillers.
